More success for EB’s man in Japan

Our man in Japan, Testsu Ikuzawa, continues to impress and delight us with his race exploits on the other side of the world at the proud age of 75. The latest update from Tetsu carried the story of how his SWB 1965 911 - which has been built to a wonderful standard using a plethora of lightweight EB parts and panels - shot to the front of the field and won the race after missing the pole in qualifying.

"I won the race on Sunday by just 1.5 seconds. For qualifying, there were a lot of slow drivers, slow cars and they never use their mirrors. I could not get a clear lap but managed to get second on the grid by two-tenths of a second.

"I didn’t get a great race start, but I managed to keep my position. On the third lap, I drove well through the last corner before the main long straight and then tried to pass through turn one, but the old man did not succeed and both cars went side by side into turn two. Fortunately, I was on the inside for this one so I managed to pass the racing Elan 26R!

"I won the race by just 1.5 seconds after a pretty exciting battle. The oldest winner in Japanese motor racing makes history again!" Well done to Tetsu on another Porsche win and we continue to appreciate his epic adventures, flying the EB flag in the Far East. If we’re still racing when we get to Tetsu’s age (and we hope we will be) then life will have been pretty good!
